MECCA CENTER LIBRARY POLICIES REGARDING CIRCULATION, LIBRARY USE ,COMPUTER USAGE AND PATRON PRIVACY

Who can check-out books?

Circulation Policy

All borrowed materials should be checked out of the Mecca Center library. Circulation is done manually, through the self-checkout station, with the assistance of a library volunteer when available. Procedures are posted at the circulation desk. No overdue fines are charged. Materials may be checked out for a period of one month.

The materials are loaned to the patron and become the responsibility of the patron. Mecca Center Library patrons are responsible for following circulation procedures and returning books to the library. Lost, missing, or damaged library items should be reported to the librarian as soon as possible. If an item has not been returned after 3 months, a book replacement fee will be posted to the patron’s account.

When checking books out, please remove the card from the pocket on the item. Then, write your full name on the card with the due date of one month from the date of borrowing. After that, place the card in the small filing card box. Enjoy the materials!

When returning items, please place them in the return drop-box in the library. The library staff will check in the items and reshelve them as soon as possible. Parents are responsible for monitoring their children’s book selections. Teachers and library volunteers can provide assistance with finding age-appropriate materials.

All visitors to the Library are required to:

Treat other patrons and Library volunteers with respect and courtesy.
Any child age 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Attend to personal belongings. The Mecca Center Library is not responsible for personal belongings.
Use Library furniture, equipment, and materials for their intended function.
Follow established loan procedures or authorizations before taking Mecca Center Library property or materials from the buildings.
Keep cell phones to silent at all times and use the cell phone quietly outside of the Library.
Ensure that any device that emits sound is played only through headphones and cannot be heard by anyone else.
Help keep the Library clean by placing all garbage or recycling in the bins provided.
Follow Mecca Center staff directives in the event of an emergency.

Computer Usage Policy

The computer stations in the Mecca Center can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. Access is a privilege, not a right, and requires responsibility on the part of the user.

While using the computers, we also ask you:

To act in a considerate, appropriate manner towards other users and library volunteers
To report all virus infections and operational problems to the Mecca Center staff
Do not download or install any software, including games
Do not alter or delete any operating system settings or files
Do not alter or delete any other users’ existing files – for example, documents and images
Do not use the hard drives to store your files, as the drives are reformatted periodically
Parents are reminded to monitor their minor children’s use of the Internet. The Mecca Center Library is not responsible for content accessed by minors.
